The FN FAL is a rare battle rifle characterized by its high damage, and can only be found at helicopter crashes. It is arguably the best infantry weapon and an excellent choice for PvP engagements. As a battle rifle, rather than an assault rifle, it has a much longer effective range than many other weapons. It is entirely feasible to hit and even kill targets at 800m, but the FAL features iron sights, making this task quite daunting to novice players.

The FAL has two firing modes, semi automatic and 3-round burst. The former is by far the best for most cases, forcing ammo conservation and accurate shot placement even when a player is panicked for some reason. The 3-round burst option will just make you waste a lot of shots, because of the FAL's strong recoil in between shots. Use the burst option only when you want to suppress the enemy if you or your team are outnumbered or for cover fire if you or your team are ambushed.

The FAL uses an 20 round FN FAL Mag. loaded with 7.62x51mm NATO rounds, the same ammunition used by all military-grade western sniper rifles and light machine guns (excluding the M249 SAW). Oddly enough, as of yet, their ammo cannot be converted for use in the FAL, severely limiting availability of ammunition, as FN FAL Mag.s can only be found on helicopter crash sites (or on dead bandits).

Another major drawback of the FAL is its noise, which is high by all standards, aggroing zombies in a 180m radius. For players the radius is variable, as different players have different sound settings.

The FAL also has a variant in-game, the FN FAL AN/PVS-4 which is statistically identical to the standard FAL, the only difference being that the variant features an AN/PVS-4 night vision scope.

EXTREMELY effective in PvP. 8k effective damage downs in 1 shot (downs, not kills, but a downed person is a dead person in most scenarios).

By Noltz on 2012/07/16 at 5:16am

Really nice weapon for PvP. Just took out 2 players and got myself a lot of loot. However you should use your ammo wisely as the mags as of yet are not convertable with DMR mags etc.

By camaroz28nut3 on 2012/08/08 at 5:47pm

@Dekruser There's a couple problems with your conclusion. The Enfield is a bolt action, so it has a slow fire rate, and it only holds 10 rounds while the FAL is semi-auto and holds 20. While they would fair the same against a couple zombies the FAL is far superior for a large group of zombies (for example if you have to fire in town), and even more so against other players which require multiple hits to kill with either gun, and can shoot back.

Pros: High blood damage (8000, enough to almost always knock somebody unconscious) Good accuracy (Up to 400m, as the page says) Good magazine size (20)

Cons: The gun and the ammo are rare (Only found at crash sites) It's very loud (About as loud as an M24/CZ550) It can't go full auto (Perhaps a blessing in disguise due to the limited ammo)

Big brother of the AKM, if you are able to check Chopper Crashes frequently take it! Otherwise you should become friends with the AKM since it's easier to find Ammo for it.

By Dekruser on 2012/08/12 at 7:34am

@camaroz28nut3$ Yes, i have to say you're right, so the FN Fal is better then the Lee Enfield, i also just say nearly senceless, but the amo is sooooo rare that a prefer the Lee Enfield. The amo you can only finde at helicopters, the Lee Enfield amo EVERWHERE, but i have to say that your opinion is also right.

By BeastXL on 2012/08/03 at 8:18am

@DeZrEcTi0n i agree, i just looted 1 crash site which had 3 of them. and 5 mags all together. GIVE MORE AMMO NEXT TIME! lmao at least my squad has some nice rifles :p

By Googlepacer on 2012/07/24 at 5:20am

Alright, not the answer I was hoping for, but thanks! Found the gun at a crashed heli last night, no ammo though. Wondering if someone looted before I got there and already had the gun so just needed the ammo.

I was on the big hill near elektro with this and a range finder, saw somebody on the hospital, zoomed in on him with my rangefinder and looked up a bit, without moving my aim at all i got out my fn fal and zoomed in where i couldnt even see the hospital but still shot the gun hoping to get lucky, looked through my rangefinder and guess what I saw... His ass bleeding on the ground, looked and it was a 675 meter shot..

By jokerzhe on 2012/09/02 at 10:37am

This is deginatly in the top five of pvp when you're with a group high rolling.

By DeZrEcTi0n on 2012/08/03 at 7:47am

This gun seems to be spawning more often now. I have found it multiple times when i only use to see one or two ever week or so

By zaybertamer on 2012/07/24 at 6:09pm

I found one of these in the barn NE of Zelenogorsk, though without ammo. Does that mean another player dropped it there?

By Noltz on 2012/07/23 at 11:40pm

@Googlepacer The FAL has its own mags, nothing can convert to them, and the FAL mags cannot be converted either.

By Googlepacer on 2012/07/23 at 7:40pm

Can someone clarify about the ammo for me, it says that the FAL mag cannot be converted for the other guns, but can the other mags, such as DMR, be converted and used for the FAL?

By SatiX on 2012/07/11 at 1:25am

7999 dmg/per hit

By Vanlock on 2012/07/08 at 8:59pm

Shots to Kill >> body: 1 / head: 1 Effective Range 400m Rate of Fire : Moderate /-/ Recoil : High /-/ Noise : High

By madhellsing on 2013/04/14 at 9:24pm

First of I own the real steel and it can reach out and touch steel plates with auttority :D

A lot of people confuse the M14 DMR mags with FN FAL mags although they are both 308 powerful round it is not the same mag although in this game I seen m9 mags fit on to a glock lol I say why not making them compatible.

Needles to say this gun is a beast for PVP, also a bit of a shmae there is only NVG scope on it and no other actual scope

By ShAtTeR-DrEaMz on 2012/09/04 at 11:56am

Its a great PvP gun, Ammo is rare and only found at Heli crash sites. All BS aside, you might as well get a Lee Enfield... to do the same amount of damage & the ammo isn't as rare. There isn't really a pay off the FN FAL...other than its rarity, which isn't worth anything when your out of ammo.

By darkshark6 on 2012/09/03 at 11:52am

Just found a hacker tent with 7 of these and 26 mags.... in the Elektro church... wtf.... WINNING

By Jaco on 2012/08/14 at 5:51am

I consider myself very luckey because i found 3 bizons SD and 4 fn fals and 1 nightvision one at heli crash site now im rolling i have a fn fal with 5 mags and a m4a3 cco and my friend has the bizon :)

By JJ-Merc on 2012/09/09 at 8:09pm

Not true about it only spawning at Heli crash sites- I have one right now, just found it in a military building (low value). Honestly, i prefer the AKM, ammo is more frequent, the AKM is just as damaging to zombies and it also has full auto fire.

By Dekruser on 2012/08/08 at 11:54am

The weapon is now nearly senceless, because the Lee Enfield is near so good as the FN Fal. The noise of the Lee Enfield is more silent then the FN Fal, the Damage is near at the FN Fal and the biggest advantage is that the Lee Enfield is WAYS more common and also the Ammo.

By lazsers on 2012/07/19 at 8:04pm

contrary to popular belief the fal does not kill in one shot, it takes 2-3 to the body.
